Why Monoflow

The mountain is fun. Getting started isn't.

Traditional snow sports can mean expensive gear, uncomfortable boots and days of falling before it ever feels fun.

Sometimes, you just want to sit down and ride.

What makes it different

One ride. No special boots.

More approachable

Designed to take the intimidation and frustration out of learning to ride.

All in one

No ski boots, no snowboard boots, no separate bindings. Just sit down and go.

Built to carve

Metal edges give you the grip for controlled turns and hockey-style stops.

Designed around the rider

Reclined seat, suspension, adjustable handle and braking, working together as one.

Try it

Hold to lean in.

That's the feeling.

  1. Boots down.
  2. Glove down.
  3. Edge in.
Who it's for

Not just for beginners.

First-timers

A more approachable way onto the mountain.

Skiers and snowboarders

Something completely new for riders who've done it all.

Anyone who'd rather sit

Keep riding without standing all day.

The build

Built to be tested. Shaped by riders.

Monoflow is in prototype development. Next comes real-world testing on snow: stability, turning, stopping, comfort and rider safety. Your feedback helps decide what Monoflow becomes.

Our story

Born in Colorado. Built in Utah.

Monoflow was founded by University of Utah student Clay Smith. After years of skiing, Clay wanted something new: all the excitement of the mountain, without another massive learning curve.

That search became Monoflow, developed at the University of Utah, where mountain culture meets hands-on invention.

FAQ

Good questions.

Is it hard to learn?

Monoflow is designed to feel stable from your first run. You sit low with your feet near the snow, so there's less to fall from and more to balance on.

What happens if I fall off?

Monoflow is being designed with an automatic braking concept: spring-loaded brakes meant to stop the ride when you come off. It's one of the systems we're testing now.

Can I take it on the chairlift?

Many resorts allow sit-down snow rides like ski bikes on chairlifts, usually with a safety leash. Rules change from resort to resort, and even lift to lift, so check your resort's policy before you go.

When can I get one?

Monoflow is in prototype development and isn't for sale yet. Join the First Run and you'll hear first about testing and availability.

For resorts

Give more guests another way down.

Monoflow is being developed as a compact rental experience that could help resorts attract curious first-timers, adventurous returning guests and riders looking for something different.
